VR
I have tried each implentation of VR as it was introduced and never found any of it compelling, the complexity of the setup and the uncomfortable headgear - not to mention the vomit inducing content and refresh rates. Yuck! That has finally started to change with the latest generation of gear. I recently purchased an Oculus Quest and I feel like they have finally produced a viable commercial product. Good pricepoint, excellent hardware, and a compelling VR experience - things are finally maturing.
I started working on an experience with the Quest and realized that the biggest barrier I would have would be getting my content in front of people. That was when I found WebVR - this API allows you to create compelling VR experiences that load via webpages - no installation files or sideloading.
I am working on a bit of a VR resume with WebVR. I have taken my Russian Academy set and completely remodeled it all in much lower resolution. I then baked the multiple complex maps down to just a few atlas textures. The experience is still very ALPHA but it was compelling enough where I wanted to show it off.
Currently, WebVR best supports Firefox browser. I have also gotten it to work in Chrome. It did not work on Edge. You should be able to look around a little bit with just a mouse/keyboard (WASD functions), but a VR headset will give you the best experience. I have only tested it with my Quest headset, so I would love some feedback if you have something different. I found that I had to reload the page sometimes if an error occured
